Sarah Turner, MD, Assistant Director
Hello! My name is Sarah Turner, and I am a new recruit to the FWMEP faculty. I am working with the residents on their NHC rotation, and absolutely love my new role in teaching. I am one of the two Canucks in faculty, and I originally hail from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I did my medical school in Grenada and NYC through St. George’s University, and my FM Residency here at FWMEP. After residency we moved to Albuquerque where I completed a two-year fellowship in Maternal, Child, and Reproductive Health, and although it was supposed to be a permanent move, we came back in 2016! The pull of Fort Wayne was just too much to keep us away ;-)
In my own clinic, I practice full-scope family medicine, but my focus is on women’s health, obstetrics, and pediatric care. As well, I have a special focus clinic for pregnant women with substance use disorder (the Monarch Clinic) - this is my passion and where my heart truly lies.
I am married and have two delightful little boys who constantly keep me on my toes, and are challenging my parenting skills on a daily basis. In my spare time I like to sleep, because with work, teaching, and family, I don’t really have spare time! I’m so glad to be here, and to have come full circle and be a part of teaching future doctors on everything from pre-conception through to the end of the postpartum period (and occasionally beyond!)
