Robert E. Wilkins, MD, Associate Program Director
I’m an Illinois native and first came to Fort Wayne as a student at Concordia Senior College where I received a BA degree in Natural Science. I returned to Illinois to complete my medical degree at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. Afterward I completed a Family Medicine Residency at MacNeal Memorial Hospital, Berwyn, IL. I practiced medicine in Michigan before returning to Fort Wayne.
I am a retired United States Army Colonel having served in the Michigan Army National Guard for over thirty years, including 2 ninety day tours of combat duty in Iraq. My clinical interests include ADHD, geriatrics, Type II Diabetes, and office procedures. I supervise our Geriatrics rotation and am a medical director for three area nursing homes.
My wife, Nancy, and I have one daughter, two sons, six granddaughters and three grandsons. How the family has grown!
In my leisure time, I enjoy bird hunting, reading, especially about history and military history, and woodworking. Some call me Mr. Fix-It around the residency, so do not be surprised to see me with unusual tools in my hand.
